'JACKET HOCKEY HALL OF FAME

The following members of the Yellowjacket
Hockey family have been enshrined in the UW-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame.

Wally Akervik
Inducted in 1983
Coached the Yellowjackets from
1965-1976. After the program was on hiatus, Akervik re-started the
program in 1965 and guided the Yellowjackets to the 1976 NAIA National
Championship.

Lou Karakas
Inducted in 1985
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1965-1967.
The Eveleth, Minnesota native played goaltender and was an All-ICHA
player and was the team MVP in 1966.

Casey VanDamme
Inducted in 1996
Played for the 'Jackets from 1977-1981.
Graduated in 1981 and was the school's all-time scoring leader
until 1983. Currently third with 183 points. Was
All-American in 1981.

Gary Harker
Inducted in 1998
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1965-69. Later
went on to coach the Superior High School and UWS. He coached the
Yellowjackets from 1977-1986, winning 107 games behind the Yellowjacket
bench.

Dave Oviatt
Inducted in 1998 - Carl Vergamini Award
A dedicated hockey fan since the late
1960's. Became a member of the Blue Line Club in the 1970's and is
a charter member of the 'Jacket Ice Booster Club.

Mas Fukushima
Inducted in 2002
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1970-1974.
Dynamic player who sits eighth on the all-time scoring list with 152
points. Was the school's first multiple All-American, earning the
NAIA honor in 1972, 1973, and 1974.

Gary Fritch
Inducted in 2003
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1972-1976.
Captained the 1976 NAIA National Championship team and was an NAIA
All-American selection in 1974, 1975, and 1976.

Steve Anderson
Inducted in 2004
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1973-1976.
In three years was a two-sport star, lettering in both hockey and
baseball. Captain of the 1976 National Championship team.
Coached Yellowjackets during the 1976-77 season.

Barb Erickson
Inducted in 2004 - Carl Vergamini Award
An avid supporter of athletics since 1964.
Is known as a fan, volunteer, employee, and contributor to the athletic
program. |

Scott VanDamme
Inducted in 2005
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1974-1978.
Was a star on the 1976 NAIA National Championship team. Still
holds the school's goal scoring record with 102. Was named
All-American in 1977.

David Esse
Inducted in 2005
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1987-1991.
First AHCA All-American in school history in 1991. Was a
three-time team captain and was selected to the All-NCHA and All-WSUC
teams. Ranks eighth on the all-time scoring list for defensemen
with 68 points.

John Munson
Inducted in 2005 - Carl Vergamini Award
Station manager at KUWS responsible for getting
Yellowjacket Athletics on the radio. Served as the radio voice of
Yellowjacket hockey and basketball for nearly 20 years. |

Chris Campbell
Inducted in 2006Played for the
Yellowjackets from 1989-1993. Was an All-American in 1993 and
entered the Hall of Fame as the number two scorer all-time in school
history with 186 points. He also is the school's all-time leader
in shorthanded goals with 10. |

Glen Lang
Inducted in 2006
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1990-1993.
He was a two-time All-American, named to the first team in 1992 and
1993. He is the school's all-time leading scorer with 188 points
and holds records for most power play goals all-time (30), most goals in
a season (33), most power play goals in a season (15) and most points in
a season (71). |

Todd Dahl
Inducted in 2006Played for the
Yellowjackets from 1978-1982. He was a two-time All-American in
1981 and 1982 and entered the Hall of Fame as the number two scorer
all-time among defensemen with 106 points.
He was the first Yellowjacket named All-NCHA. |

Rick Eisenmann
Inducted in 2006 - Lydia Thering Meritorious Service Award
Played for the Yellowjackets from 1976-1979.
Had 13 points in 55 career games and also lettered in football. He
received the meritorious service award because of his efforts to promote
athletics, for girls in particular, at all levels in the community of
Superior. |

Dave Graichen
Inducted in 2007Played for the Yellowjackets from 1973-1997.
Led UW-Superior in all major goaltending categories at the time of his
graduation. Still holds the school records for games played and
saves. A big-game player, Graichen made 69 saves in the 'Jackets
2-1 double overtime win over Norwich in the 1997 NCAA Semifinals. |

Team brought the school its first National
Championship in any sport.

1994 NCHA Championship Team
Inducted in 2004
Team won the school's first NCHA regular season
and playoff championships. Lost in the NCAA Championship game to

Inducted in 2007
Team won the school's second NCHA playoff
championship. Lost in the NCAA Championship game to Middlebury.
