Superior State Teachers College: 1929 Overall Record: 4-2 Head Coach: Mitchell Miller The following excerpt appeared in the 1929 edition of "The Gitche Gumee", the yearbook of Superior State Teachers College. Superior State Teachers College initiated hockey into the field of major sports this year. Lack of facilities for practice and of strong financial support made sledding pretty tough for the boys, but under the guidance of Coach (Mitchell "Duche") Miller the fellows rounded into a well functioning bunch of puck chasers. The ice warriors matched their stuff with Duluth Jaysee, Duluth Cathedral, Superior Curling Club, Two Harbors and Duluth Central high. The season may well be called successful, the locals winning four out of six starts. Coach Miller, Manager Miller, Trainer Miller, and Promoter Miller contributed all hi power to produce a winning combination, and "Duche" Miller ought to get a lot of credit for his handling of hockey.
