'JACKETS RALLY FOR OT WIN

There was about eight minutes to go in Friday's game between the Yellowjackets and Hamline, and it looked like the 'Jackets were on their way to their second loss of the season.  The Pipers had just scored, making it 3-1, on a goal that seemed to suck the life out of the entire building.  But that wasn't the case.  The 'Jackets got a goal back.  Then another.  And less than ten minutes later they were piling on the ice to celebrated their 4-3 overtime win over Hamline.

Chris Wilson (Jr. Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) made a great individual effort, poking the puck past a checker, then a defenseman, and headed in alone on the breakaway.  A fake to the forehand, a move to the backhand, and Wilson put the puck past Hamline goaltender Zach Faust to give the 'Jackets the win.  Wilson's third goal of the season was unassisted and came just 1:12 into the overtime.

The 'Jackets opened the scoring at 11:03 of the first period when Logan Isley (So. Bonnyville, Alberta) took a goal mouth feed from Wilson and finished off the rush, beating Faust low on the glove side.  Talon Berlando (So. Drumheller, Alberta) also assisted.

The lead stood into the second period.  The Pipers got on the board when Steve Festler finished a play in similar fashion to Isley in the first, tying the game at 4:50 of the second.  They took their first lead of the game at 16:18 when Cole Scattarelli took a head-man pass and went in alone, beating Chad Beiswenger (Sr. Moorhead, Minnesota) high on the glove side, making it 2-1.

Hamline stretched their lead to 3-1, capitalizing on a Beiswenger mistake.  While shorthanded, Beiswenger came out to play the puck.  To the right of his goal, he tried to clear the zone, but the puck was knocked down by Kyle Kurr, who dropped it to the ice and poked it into the empty net to make it 3-1.  The power play goal came at 12:12 of the period.  The 'Jackets came back just over a minute later.  Seth Reda (Sr. Palmer, Alaska) had the puck on the left wing, sent it up to Brian Bina (Jr. Grand Forks, North Dakota) at the left point.  He passed it cross-ice to Art Clark (Jr. Bloomington, Minnesota) at the right point, who let a wrist shot go that found its way through all the sticks and legs into the goal for his fourth of the season at 13:29.  The 'Jackets then went on the power play and were dominating play, having several incredible scoring chances during the man-advantage, including two that rang off the post.  The power play expired, but the 'Jackets kept up the pressure and finally broke through to tie the game.  Kent Detlefsen (Fr. Lakeville, Minnesota), who had several chances throughout the game, got the puck in the slot and let a wrist shot go that beat Faust, tying the game at 3-3.  Detlefsen's first goal of the season came at 16:32.  Kevin Huck (Sr. Eden Prairie, Minnesota) had the lone assist.

With the game tied, the teams headed for overtime, setting the stage for Wilson's heroics.

Beiswenger ended up making 27 saves for the 'Jackets, who outshot Hamline 31-30.  Faust also made 27 saves for the Pipers.

The 'Jackets took seven penalties for 14 minutes, and the Pipers took four penalties for eight minutes.
