DESMET EARNS WIAC, NCHA HONORS

The WIAC and the NCHA have each named Braden Desmet (Jr. Strathmore, Alberta) as its player of the week, for the week of November 24.  Desmet led the charge offensively for the 'Jackets, picking up four goals and seven points in home wins over Lake Forest and St. Norbert.

"You have to be happy for Braden.  He had such a tough year last year with the injuries and everything.  He could have easily folded," said Yellowjacket Head Coach Dan Stauber.  "Instead, he comes back in the best shape he's been in, is working harder than he has before, and now he's getting the results.  I'm really happy for Braden."

Desmet had the hat trick and an assist in Friday's 5-0 win over Lake Forest.  He scored the first two goals of the game in the first period, and could have had three more in the second period if not for goalposts and a goaltender robbing him.  On Saturday, he again scored the first goal of the game and added a pair of assists in Superior's 4-3 upset of St. Norbert.

It's the first time Desmet has received player of the week honors from either the WIAC or the NCHA.
