'Jackets No Match For St. Norbert

On Saturday at St. Norbert, some of the downfalls that have plagued the Yellowjackets throughout the year again stepped to the forefront.  Too many penalties, a spotty penalty kill and struggles in goal all contributed as the 'Jackets fell 6-3 at St. Norbert, their fourth consecutive loss.

The 'Jackets fell behind early, giving up a pair of power play goals in the first period.  Brandon Longley scored at 10:55 following a goalmouth scramble to make it 1-0.  Justin Favreau made it 2-0 at 19:00, scoring on a one-timer from the left point.

In the second the 'Jackets closed the gap to 2-1 when Talon Berlando (Jr. Drumheller, Alberta) banked a shot in off of St. Norbert goaltender B.J. O'Brien from the left corner just 21 seconds into the period.  Chris Wilson (Sr. Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) and Logan Isley (Jr. Bonnyville, Alberta) assisted.  Minutes later the 'Jackets were called for another penalty and St. Norbert again capitalized on the power play.  Tyler Allen was left alone in front and he beat Mike Rosett (Sr. Anchorage, Alaska) to make it 3-1 at 8:14.  Just over five minutes later Alain Joanette let a blast go from the left circle that beat Rosett to make it 4-1 at 13:41.  Rosett was then relieved in goal by Peter O'Hara (Jr. Burnsville, Minnesota).  The 'Jackets made it 4-2 late in the period when Berlando took a feed from Wilson on the right wing and let a shot go from the right circle that beat O'Brien high on the glove side at 18:39.  Josh Seifert (Sr. Superior, Wisconsin) also assisted on the play.  But St. Norbert got the three-goal lead back just 30 seconds later when Cody Keefer ripped a shot from between the circles that beat O'Hara high on the glove side to make it 5-2 at 19:39.

The Green Knights made it 6-2 at 8:20 of the third period when Kyle Stroh finished off a breakaway with a deke and snuck the puck under O'Hara.  The Yellowjackets closed out the scoring when Isley scored a power play goal, banking the puck in off the goaltender to the right of the net for his fourth of the year at 10:05.  Derek Stauber (Fr. Duluth, Minnesota) also assisted.

Rosett gave up four goals on 25 shots before leaving the game.  O'Hara finished with 11 saves.  O'Brien made 15 saves for St. Norbert.

The Yellowjackets were called for 11 penalties in the game totaling 22 minutes.  St. Norbert took seven penalties for 22 minutes.  The Green Knights went 3-8 on the power play while the 'Jackets went 1-3.
