Yellowjacket Hockey Golf Outing Set For July 17

The 2010 Yellowjacket Hockey Golf Outing will take place at Nemadji Golf Course on Saturday, July 17, Head Coach Dan Stauber announced.  The outing, which in previous years has been associated with the UW-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame induction, will stand on its own this year after the Hall of Fame format was changed.

"This event was originally a merger between the golf outings of the hall of fame and the hockey program.  The school recently said that they wanted to move the hall of fame festivities to the fall, opening the door for us to take our golf outing back," Stauber said.  "When they presented the idea to us, we were excited to bring it back to an event that will benefit both men's and women's hockey."

The tournament will feature a shotgun start beginning at 2:30 PM with a dinner immediately following at the Nemadji Clubhouse.  Tournament capacity is reserved for 36 teams comprised of four players each.  The field will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  Two carts will be available for each team and players will have a chance to win team prizes as well as individual prizes for men and women in distance and proximity.

"It's a little smaller field than we've had in past years, but there are several reasons why that is the case this year," Stauber said.  "Down the road we can open it up to more teams again, but with the short notice of the change this year it was more manageable to just go with 36 teams."

On Friday, July 16, a pre-tournament party will be held at Dodgie's East End Tavern (2114 East 5th Street in Superior) beginning at 7:00 PM.  Here, the annual $100 raffle will take place, with prize money and other donated items being raffled off.
