2011-12 Schedule Announced

The schedule for the 2011-12 Yellowjacket hockey season has been announced.  The 25-game slate will see the Yellowjackets, for the second straight year, open the season with a conference series on the road, but what follows this time around will be much more favorable than what the team had to work with a season ago.  In 2010-11 the Yellowjackets played their first seven games on the road, which was less of an issue than first thought with the team coming out of the stretch with a 5-2-0 record.  This year, they play no more than four games consecutively at home or on the road throughout the year.

The season kicks off with a series against Twin Ports rival St. Scholastica at Mars-Lakeview Arena on October 28-29.  The NCHA portion of the schedule will, for the third straight season, see the Yellowjackets play each conference opponent three times.  They will play two-game series on the road against St. Scholastica, St. Norbert and Stevens Point, while Eau Claire, River Falls and Stout all come to Wessman Arena for two games.

Following the St. Scholastica series, the Yellowjackets tackle a pair of non-conference opponents to open the home schedule, hosting St. Olaf and St. Mary's on November 4-5.  The first home conference series of the season will be November 18-19 when Stout comes to town.

In all, the Yellowjackets will play 13 of the 25 games at home.

Popular game nights such as "Skate with the 'Jackets" return to the schedule once again, this year taking place on Saturday, November 5.  The team will honors the seniors and team parents the weekend of February 3-4 when St. Norbert and Stevens Point come to town.  The incredibly popular fundraiser that is done annually with the Superior Jaycees will take place as well, with that date yet to be determined.
